Yamunotri Dham Yatra- The shrine of Yamunotri is one of the four sites of Char Dham pilgrimage located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Yamunotri is the place from where River Yamuna originates and is regarded as the seat of Goddess Yamuna. The major attraction at Yamunotri is the temple dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna. The place is engulfed by mountains on all s ides. According to Hindu sculptures the temple was first built by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in 19th century. Gangotri Dham Yatra- Gangotri is the origin of most sacred river of India River Ganges. It is one of the four sites in the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit along with Badrinath, Kedarnath and Yamunotri. Gangotri is primarily known for its ancient temples and its religious importance. The present Ganga Temple at Gangotri was constructed by a Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the early 18th century. Near the temple is located a sacred stone where King Bhagiratha is said to have worshipped Lord Shiva. Surya Kund, PandavaGufa, Bhaironghati and Gaumukh are the other religious attractions in Gangotri. May and June is the best time to plan for Char DhamYatra as it becomes comfortable due to pleasant climatic conditions. ChardhamYatra will start on 3rd May 2023 & close on 26th October 2023 (tentative). Kedarnath and Badrinath temples will open on 6th May and 8th May, respectively.

Yamunotri is the first of the four dhams and definitely the toughest. Although, its located at a lower elevations than the other dhams, the narrow and crowded pathway make it challenging and tough to reach the temple.
However, May and June is the best time to plan for Char DhamYatra as it becomes comfortable due to pleasant climatic conditions.
A Char Dhamyatra isn't easy. Pilgrims really need to earn the benefits bestowed, as only two of the temples (Badrinath and Gangotri) are accessible by vehicle. The remaining two (Yamunotri and Kedarnath) require treks. Kedarnath has the lengthiest trek.
The climb to the shrine from GauriKund, Rudrapayag is steeper than pilgrimage centres like Vaishno Devi (in Jammu) and Badrinath (which is located near Kedarnath). While there is a motorable road right up to the shrine in Badrinath, pilgrims have to walk almost 23 kilometres uphill to reach Kedarnath.
